Overview:
Stepping Stone Clubhouse, established in 1994, is an incorporated, non-government, not-for-profit organisation, dedicated to assisting people with a mental illness.
The organisation is based on the International Centre for Clubhouse Development (ICCD) model (www.ICCD.org) and has been certified by the ICCD since 1997. Stepping Stone Clubhouse abides by the International Standards for Clubhouse Programs.
Stepping Stone Clubhouse's mission is to assist adults with a mental illness to develop the skills and confidence necessary to live satisfying and productive lives in the community. This assistance is provided in a psychosocial program designed to empower and support its members.
Stepping Stone provides a non-institutional setting where adults with a mental illness give each other support as they work to rebuild their confidence, stamina, and concentration, social and vocational skills. It is a voluntary program whose participants are members, not patients or clients.
The organization believes that every member has a contribution to make. Stepping Stone relies on members' talents, skills and strengths in order to function.
Responsibilities:
Stepping Stone Clubhouse Inc. has an exciting and rewarding opportunity for a full time Executive Director to join their team in Coorparoo. This is a 12 month maternity leave appointment, commencing in November 2011.
The primary responsibilities of this role will include the effective and professional management of Stepping Stone Clubhouse, the management of Direct Reports, the maintaining of relationships with various funding bodies, and increasing the community awareness of Stepping Stone Clubhouse.
More specifically, some of your key duties will include:
Qualifications:
Stepping Stone Clubhouse is looking for someone with a strong understanding of the needs of people with a mental illness, empathy for people within the community and an understanding and experience in the application of the ICCD Clubhouse model. To be considered, you will need tertiary qualifications in Social Services, Behavioral Sciences or Business Services, and ideally possess post Graduate qualifications in a relevant field such as Psychology.
The successful applicant must have demonstrated experience in working within the non-profit sector in a similar role, and in working with community groups and coordinating fundraising activities. In addition, demonstrated management skills, including financial and asset management, and demonstrated team leadership skills, including recruiting, performance management and conflict resolution, are essential.
Must be a driven person with highly developed organization skills, and exceptional interpersonal, written and verbal communications skills. In addition, you will have strong presentation skills in order to express ideas clearly and logically, and strong analytical, problem solving and decision-making skills, including the capacity to understand and develop concepts clearly.
