Pinellas Park, FL – Vincent House received the first Florida Senate Spirit of Service Award at the opening day Senate Luncheon, March 3, 2009 in Tallahassee, Florida. The award was presented by President of the Senate, Jeff Atwater and Senator Dennis Jones to Elliott and Dianne Steele for establishing Vincent House in Pinellas County in 2003; offering persons living with mental illnesses an opportunity to rebuild their lives and instilling them with hope, dignity and respect.
The ceremony was attended by the Senate and many of their spouses and children. In addition to the award the Steele’s received a medal inscribed “Senate State of Florida” and on the back inscribed “Presented by Senator Jeff Atwater President, 2008-2010.”
