The Board holds overall responsibility for the management of the I.C.C.D. This includes assuring that the Center's activities are consistent with its purpose and mission. In furtherance of its legal and fiscal responsibilities, the Board approves the budget and monitors expenditures, assists staff with I.C.C.D. fundraising activities, establishes and reviews I.C.C.D. policies, and hires the executive director (who consults with and reports to the Board). Members of the Board provide access to financial resources, potential employers, and other sources of support for the Center throughout the world. The Board meets in New York four times a year; committees of the board often conduct their business by conference calls.

Members of the Board are elected on an annual basis; membership is not time limited.  The Board is particularly interested in recruiting additional clubhouse members and others from countries from which no one is currently serving on the Board.
